Leadership Behaviours: Great Mentees are already starting to show up as a leader and are demonstrating leadership behaviours.
Will & Enthusiasm: Great Mentees want to be Mentored, they are committed to their own development, are open and responds well to feedback.
Growth Potential: Great Mentees should demonstrate an eagerness to explore their growth potential.

Do’s and Don’ts of being a Mentee
DO
  • Take a proactive role in shaping the relationship
  • Understand what you hope to gain from the relationship and clearly communicate your goals and aspirations to your Mentor.
  • Set aside time for the Mentoring process and keep all scheduled appointments with your Mentor and display professional behavior.
  • Come to meetings prepared with discussion topics to ensure that the time with your Mentor is used well.
  • Respond in a timely manner to your Mentor’s feedback. At most, two days after receipt of emails.
  • Be open and honest with your Mentor about your challenges and weaknesses.
  • Discuss issues of concern within the relationship with the Mentor first, before discussing with others.
DON'T
  • Ask for advice on everything. Have a purpose for each request.
  • Blame the Mentor if his or her advice doesn’t work out.
  • Expect the Mentor to know all the answers.
  • Commit to obligations you cannot keep.
  • Cancel meetings or visits at the last minute.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a Mentor? First complete your profile and identify areas of interest or would like to learn more about. Take time to browse through the list of Mentors and create Mentoring requests.
How long will the Mentors be available? Both Mentors & Mentees are expected to make a 6 month commitment to ensure that both fully benefit from the relationship. If a Mentor must leave the relationship early, we request at least one month’s notice in order to search for a replacement Mentor with similar background.
The relationship is not going well or I am concerned about membership. What to do? We encourage an open dialogue which includes letting the Mentor know. Following that the Program administrator should be contacted immediately. We will provide our full support to resolve the situation in a positive and satisfactory manner.
